Applications for school places close on 15 January.
Please make sure you apply before this date - late applications may mean you don’t get your preferred school choices. Please let us know if you need any help to complete the application.

What Age Can Your Child Start School?

Children usually start Reception in September after their 4th birthday.

All children must be in full-time education by the term after their 5th birthday.

Deferring School Entry

If you feel your child isn’t ready, you can request to delay their start until later in the academic year or even the following September (after they turn 5).

Summer-Born Children

If your child was born between 1 April and 31 August, you can request that they start Reception in September after their 5th birthday. You can also do this for early September birthdays if you feel they are not ready to start school as per the point above.
