Employee Perks

25 days annual leave, plus 3 additional days over Christmas, for example this year you will receive an additional 3 days paid annual leave from the 28th-30th of December 2022.
1st Place employees also have all Bank Holidays off.

As a 1st Place employee, you are entitled to a 40% discount on your childcare at any 1st Place nursery.

A pension scheme is a type of savings plan that helps you save for later in life. It's one of the best ways to grow your money steadily over time.
1st Place pension provider is Nest pensions. NEST is a low-risk pension scheme. Its backed by the government, which offers a level of security for savers.
1st Place offers a 6% match of your contribution so when you pay in 6% of your monthly salary 1st place pay in 6% too double your money.
If you’re eligible for tax relief, Nest will claim this for you from HMRC and add it to your pot. At the moment, basic rate tax relief is 20 per cent. So, you’ll only need to pay 80p in every pound once Nest has claimed it from the government.

You are entitled 10 days at full pay and 10 days at half pay.
Please remember to log any sickness and return to work forms on your e-days account.

How it Works: You will receive a voucher to use in your chosen bike store paid for by 1st Place through the Bike to Work Scheme. This is then paid back to us monthly through your salary and before tax.
Your savings will depend on the cost of your bike for example a £550 voucher will cost you £422 saving over £100.

You can apply for a season ticket loan from 1st Place which then is repaid through your monthly salary, this means you save money by getting a tax break on the cost of the season ticket.

We have cooks on site for the nurseries and 1st Place staff can benefit from a healthy cooked meal every day for just £1 a day.
Plus, free fruit is available on site every day for all employees.

This plan means that a lump sum would be paid to your beneficiaries if you pass away during your time as a 1st Place employee. I know it’s not something we like to think about, but it could give peace of mind to know that your loved ones will have finances to support funeral expenses and beyond.
A nomination form needs to be completed to appoint your beneficiaries and the percentage you would like them to receive. If your beneficiaries are under 18 this money will be put into a trust fund until they are 18.

Smart Health GP App
1st Place employees can now access a smart health app. The app allows you to access a GP any time of day or night and has other benefits such as a Health check, mental health support and health and nutrition advice.
Consultations are via telephone or video. You and any children under 21 and your partner can also set up an account and use the online services.
Children under 18 can be added to your account, but anyone over 18 will need to set up their own account using the 1st Place scheme code to access the app.
To get started download the Smart Health by AIG from your app store. You will need to enter the 1st Place scheme code.* A verification email will be sent to confirm it’s you, once your account is set up you can start to add your personal information, ID check and doctors' details.

Mental Health

If you’re struggling, you can reach out to any of our Mental Health 1st aiders. They can help you by advising you on support services you can access, there are posters in staff rooms with their photos, names and how to contact them.

24/7 spport is available through Perkbox, if you do not have a Perkbox subscription or you feel you need further help please talk to your line manager or a Mental Health 1st Aider, they will refer you to a service and look at how 1st Place can support you.
EDI

Our EDI reps are volunteers whose aim is to ensure that equity, diversity and inclusion and provide advice and support for colleagues. If you have anything you’d like to discuss you can contact an EDI rep in person or by email (there are posters available in staff rooms), you can also email blm@1stplace.uk.com.

1st Place BLM – Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism meetings are held monthly on Thursdays at 7pm on zoom.
Each meeting, we have a different topic of discussion, the aim of the meetings is to create a safe space where we can discuss topics, concerns and learn from one another.
Keep an eye out for the email reminder which contains the zoom link for the meeting.
Free Flu Vaccination
If you’re under 50 years of age, 1st Place will reimburse you for your flu vaccination. After you have booked and paid for your vaccination, email proof of purchase to Sam.Tomkins@1stplace.uk.com
If you’re over 50 you can already receive the vaccination for free through the NHS.

Free Eye Test
1st Place will reimburse you for your eye sight test.
Eye sight tests also check for a range of health conditions, it’s so important to have regular check ups. After you have booked and paid for your vaccination, email proof of purchase to Sam.Tomkins@1stplace.uk.com
