On Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of October, 1st Place will host a special exhibition to celebrate 20 years of children’s learning, play and creativity through community projects and child-led learning at 1st Place.

Step into an inspiring exhibition that explores how children learn, play and create. Discover creative projects, stories and reflections of two decades of community work, and interactive nature-inspired activities. 

See the world through a child’s eyes and discover what child-led learning looks like in the early years. 

Displays highlight our nursery project work, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. The exhibition explores how babies and young children learn through play, exploration, and relationships and how these experiences shape the world around them. It’s a chance to reflect on the richness of early development and how environments support children to thrive.

Discover our work in the community as part of Southwark Family Hubs and the Family Help system and how we support families across Borough, Bankside and Walworth.

The exhibition spans across 3 rooms with videos and displays, the last room is a dedicated space to interactive Reggio-inspired activities for children to enjoy - a playful way to round off the experience.
