Nicki has been part of the 1st Place team since 2009. She first became involved in Sure Start as a parent, and joined her local programme team in 2003. In 2005 Nicki became the Sure Start Programme Manager for East Peckham and later the locality manager for Children’s Centres in the south east of Southwark.
Nicki studied Conservation of Books and Manuscripts at Camberwell College before working at the National History Museum and the V&A.
When not at work she enjoys going to the theatre, gardening and walking her dog, Herbert.

Elena has over 14 years’ experience in working with local families and children. Elena’s background includes four years of Outreach, Interpreting, Counselling and Family Support work with Southwark’s Aylesbury Sure Start.
Elena also worked at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital for two years as Health Advocate and two years at Charterhouse in Southwark supporting its members. Elena studied Counselling and Psychotherapy to become a counsellor, which supported her career in family support, and three years ago she completed the Leadership and Management Diploma at Southwark College to further develop her career in management.

Bunmi has been Early Education Manager at 1st Place Children and Parents’ Centre since its inception in 2005. She has an Education degree and a postgraduate diploma in Early Childhood Education from Sheffield University.
She has worked in early years education for over 20 years delivering a range of services, community tutoring and family support in two Sure Start programmes; and with the Children’s Society in Leicester.
She lives in South East London with her family. She is involved in her local community and church where she volunteers in the youth club and children’s groups.

Marie has over 23 years’ experience of working in early years education. She started her career in childcare as Southwark’s float nursery nurse; she has been privileged to work with children and families across the borough ever since. Marie has been employed by 1st Place since November 2005.
She is currently managing 1st Place nursery at Cambridge house. Marie studied child development and early education at Southwark College and Roehampton University. In her spare time Marie enjoys family time, singing in the church choir and committee work at her local community centre.

Gaynor started working for 1st Place in September 2015 as the new Early Years Manager at Lorrimore Square.
She has been working in early years for over 30 years since gaining her NNEB in 1983, delivering a range of services in a variety of settings. In the past she was a Children Centre Programme Manager for a Charity, Family Learning Officer, NVQ Manager, Tutor and Assessor, Nursery Manager and Early Years Educator. Over the years Gaynor has continued to study and gain further qualifications in the Early Years and Management.
Gaynor lives in Billericay Essex; She has 2 children and 2 step children and she enjoys travelling, eating out and spending time with family and friends.
Judy has been part of the 1st Place team from day one.
She finished studying for her NNEB in 1975 and since then has worked solely with young children and their families. In 2002 she completed her Advanced Diploma in Childcare and Education and is currently finishing a Degree in Childhood and Youth Studies.
Judy has lived in Southwark for fifteen years, her two youngest children attended local nursery and school here. She has been a School governor and Chair of her Tenants and Residents Association.
Judy was a Child Development Worker on the Aylesbury Sure Start Project 2001-2003 and, as such, has been at the heart of 1st Place from its beginning.
When she is not working she enjoys reading, walking her dog and spending time with her large family.
Eloise joined 1st Place when it opened in 2005. Previously she was a costume and set designer for theatre, contemporary dance and TV. When becoming a parent she re-trained in childcare, discovered the Reggio Emilia Approach and began working as an Atelierista.
Eloise studied Theatre design at UCE Birmingham and has a certificate in Early Years Education from The Open University.
When not at work she enjoys reading, trying to write a book and walking.
Ola has been Facilities Manager at 1st Place Children and Parents’ Centre for 6 years where his responsibilities include Repairs and Maintenance, Health and Safety, Site Security and more.
Before joining 1st Place he worked as a Premises Manager at Peckham Rye School, site manager at Stanley Technical High School and site manager at Harris Academy South Norwood.
Ola holds a postgraduate certificate in Integrated Health and Safety Management from the Open University and Postgraduate Diploma and Master’s Degree in Environmental Decision Making also from the Open University London. He has attended well over 10 training courses in Facilities management. Ola is a graduate registered member of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) and the Institution of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
Ola is happily married with 2 boys and 2 girls.
Jessica has over 10 years’ experience working in the education sector, and previously ran a community nursery before joining 1st Place in December 2013. Jessica has an MA in International Relations from Durham University.
In her spare time Jessica enjoys playing netball, yoga, going to the theatre, and is a Trustee for two charities in North London.

Sam Joined the 1st Place team as a part-time receptionist in October 2008. During her time as receptionist Sam studied for two level 2 NVQs in business administration and customer services.
In 2011 a vacancy within the team allowed Sam to take on the new role of Senior Administrator. Since then Sam has attended many HR events and gained a level 2 qualification in team leading. Sam is a mum of two girls and a Staffordshire bull terrier Missy. Sam enjoys walking, crime stories and formula 1.
