Children’s behaviour is managed effectively and in a manner appropriate for their stage of development and particular needs. At 1st Place, we uphold the right for all members of our community to be treated with respect and equality. Please read the following documents to find out more:
1st Place will work in partnership with parents to ensure the safety and well being of their children including those with long term conditions such as epilepsy, asthma or sickle cell anaemia. We will also continue to support the children in our care when they are suffering from short term illness providing that they are considered able to cope with the nursery day and are not likely to infect other children or staff. Please read our Medicines Policy to find out more: 1st Place Medicines Policy.
The welfare of children is paramount in our nursery. In order to ensure this, we follow the local safeguarding procedures approved by the local Area Safeguarding Children Board and have our own detailed policy. Everyone at 1st Place that works with children is trained to be able to carry out these procedures. If you want to find out more please read our Parents Child Protection Policy.
1st Place core opening hours are 9.00am-5.00pm with extended day sessions available for parents booking in advance. At registration, all parents/carers sign to say that they will abide by the terms and conditions of the nursery, and that they will keep to their agreed times of attendance. For more information, please read our Late collection of children Policy.
New parents are asked to spend at least one week settling in their child. This will be a gradual process that reflects the needs of each child. Each child is treated as an individual, some may need more time (or less) at the discretion of the keyworker. For more information, please read the following documents:
If you want to find out more about fees, childcare vouchers, the different payment methods and more please read the Fees Procedure and Agreement 2014 document.
If you are offered and accept a place, you should complete and return the Admission forms.
The Facebook page and groups are used as a form of two-way communication with parents and other individuals interested in our work. For more information, please read our 1st Place Facebook Policy.
We comply with the welfare requirement for safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare and follow the local safeguarding procedure approved by the Southwark Safeguarding Children Board. We ensure that all adults working and looking after children and working with vulnerable adults are fully trained and able to put the procedures into practice. For more information, please read our 1st Place Safeguarding Policy.
